Why Do I Keep Getting Toothaches?
The pain from toothaches is a signal telling you that something is wrong and needs to be looked at by a dentist. Usually, toothaches stem from tooth decay. So be sure to head to the dentist if you have a persistent toothache to get it checked out and properly treated!
But if you’re experiencing a toothache or frequent toothaches, here are a few likely contributing factors:
- Your diet. Eating acidic, carbohydrate-heavy, and sugary foods can all contribute to tooth decay, the primary cause of toothaches. If you’re prone to toothaches more often than not, be mindful of what you’re consuming! Try to cut back on the types of foods referenced above to minimize tooth decay from your daily diet. Instead, eat these soothing foods while you’re experiencing a toothache.
- Too many sugary beverages. Along the same vein as eating too many sugary foods, beverages like soda, juice, and other sugary drinks are major contributors to tooth decay. Make sure you’re limiting your sugary beverage consumption, and brush your teeth thoroughly after consuming anything with sugar in it.
- Inadequate oral hygiene routine. Toothaches can arise as a result of an improper oral hygiene routine with inadequate brushing or flossing habits. So if you’re not cleaning your teeth and gums regularly, or if you’re not cleaning them properly, the result can be the build-up of bacteria and those painful toothaches.
