Can you believe it?! The new year is almost here! As this year comes to a close, it’s time to start planning your New Year’s resolutions, and there’s every reason to create dental New Year’s resolutions to ensure a new year full of great oral health and hygiene! Even Colgate has something to say regarding dental New Year’s resolutions.

Here are a few dental New Year’s resolutions to consider adopting:

  • Floss Twice A Day. Flossing works wonders for your oral health! Flossing at least twice a day will remove any build-up of bacteria and plaque on your teeth and gums from consuming food and drink throughout the day. Increasing the regularity of your flossing is a simple way to improve your oral hygiene.
  • Schedule Regular Dentist Visits. We recommend visiting the dentist at least once or twice a year! It’s good practice to schedule regular dental visits to make sure your teeth and gums are in good repair and any cavities or other oral health issues are taken care of in a timely fashion before the damage is too severe.
  • Eat Healthier. This is much easier said than done, we know! But, by eating less sugar and carbohydrate-heavy and acidic foods, you will significantly reduce your risk of tooth decay.
  • Drink Less Sugary Beverages. Consuming sugary beverages in excess is great for speeding up tooth decay …which is not so great for your oral health. So try to cut back on your soda and juice consumption, and your teeth and gums will thank you!
